We extend our heartfelt gratitude for joining our Dia de los Muertos celebration, which took place on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, at Studio 88 in Nelson BC. This family-friendly event explored the rich traditions of Dia de los Muertos.  

The event featured an altar creation, a Paper Flowers Workshop, a presentation on Día De Muertos, story telling, Live Music and Dance.  

We'd like to express our sincere appreciation to the Columbia Basin Trust and the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance for their generous funding, which made this project possible. Special thanks to Marilyn James, a Smum iem Matriarch appointed by her Sinixt elders, for opening the space for us, making her presence deeply meaningful.  

This event served as a bridge, connecting us with the multicultural aspects of Dia de los Muertos. It provided a unique opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the lives of those departed souls we hold dear. It was a day of remembrance, creativity, sharing, and connection, made possible by your participation and support. Thank you for being a part of this cherished celebration! 🌸💀🎉
