Want to perform?
Students wishing to participate must be registered for the full term, as choreography is developed progressively throughout the session.
Costumes:
Please budget approximately $30–$40. Whenever possible, we'll incorporate items dancers already own to help keep costs low.

Fabiola Gascon
TapatĂa Collective
Founder and Principal Instructor Â
Fabiola Gascon, originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, is a professional dancer, performer, and passionate dance instructor. Â Â
Benefitting from diverse training in multiple dance styles from a young age, her career in dance has become life-long and she has been a part of major dance productions.   Â
Fabiola's journey includes having had premier roles in various contemporary dance companies, as well as experience in diverse entertainment sectors. She has been a dedicated dance teacher for over a decade.   Â
Upon relocating to Canada, Fabiola's expanding love for dance inspired her to create and produce special community cultural events which foster beneficial connections among people. Â
 In 2020, she founded the TapatĂa Collective, where she instructs and choreographs while promoting inclusivity and self-expression. She is devoted to promoting and advocating for the art of dance.Â
Florian Adelmann
Hey everyone! My name is Florian. I am 29 years young and from Germany. My hobbies are hiking& exploring nature, swimming, snowboarding& ski touring, cooking and of course dancing! I first tried latin dance almost two years ago and fell in love with it. I meet two other guys who where in the class with me and encouraged me to keep going! Now I am teacher in training and learn a whole new side of dance! Looking forward to meeting and dancing with you all.
Jessica Trejis
Jessica Treijs is a born and raised Nelson local. Her love of dance began at age twelve, with jazz, contemporary and ballet training. At age 14, she was introduced to the Latin dance style, Salsa and fell in love with partner dancing.
As other styles of dance were easier to access within Nelson than Latin based styles, she lost touch with Salsa for years until taking it up again in New Zealand with casual classes and frequent dance socials.
When Fabiola began teaching in 2020, Jess attended as many classes as she could, among them Salsa and was again able to further her technique and love of the dance.
She is overjoyed to have become a teacher in training at TapatĂa Collective and is excited to share her passion and play with students and to help further grow this dance community.
Skyler Uriola
Skyler is very excited to be part of the Tapatia Collective team. Originally from Panama, she moved to Nelson in 2018 and has called it home ever since.Â
Skyler loves to socialize, craft, read, and watch movies, but most of all, she loves to dance. She has been dancing with Fabiola for the past five years, where she has had the opportunity to expand her knowledge and passion for Latin dance.Â
Skyler is grateful to have found such a welcoming community in Nelson and is excited to continue learning, growing, and sharing her love of dance with others. She hopes to contribute to the growth of the Latin dance community in Nelson and help create more opportunities for people to connect through music, movement, and culture.
Jenn Cross
Jenn moved to Nelson from Ontario in 2022 to work as a wildland firefighter and used her spare time to explore as many dance styles as she could. After joining classes at TapatĂa Collective, she quickly fell in love with Latin dance and the upbeat, inclusive community cultivated by Fabiola.
In 2024, Jenn hosted her first Twerkshop for a small group of friends after several of them asked her to teach them how to shake their booties and it was a hit! Now, she’s excited to bring that same playful energy to TapatĂa and share her love of movement, confidence, and tearing up the dance floor with the Nelson community.

Refund Policy: We understand that life can sometimes throw unexpected challenges our way. While all class and workshop fees are typically nonrefundable, exceptions may be considered in the case of special circumstances, subject to a $25 administration fee. Please note that there are no credits for missed sessions. In the rare event of class cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, such as inclement weather, power outages, or studio closures, refunds will not be issued. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
