Fabiola Gascon
Tapatía Collective
Founder and Principal Instructor
Fabiola Gascon, originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, is a professional dancer, performer, and passionate dance instructor.
Benefitting from diverse training in multiple dance styles from a young age, her career in dance has become life-long and she has been a part of major dance productions.
Fabiola's journey includes having had premier roles in various contemporary dance companies, as well as experience in diverse entertainment sectors. She has been a dedicated dance teacher for over a decade.
Upon relocating to Canada, Fabiola's expanding love for dance inspired her to create and produce special community cultural events which foster beneficial connections among people.
In 2020, she founded the Tapatía Collective, where she instructs and choreographs while promoting inclusivity and self-expression. She is devoted to promoting and advocating for the art of dance.
Florian Adelmann
Hey everyone! My name is Florian. I am 29 years young and from Germany. My hobbies are hiking& exploring nature, swimming, snowboarding& ski touring, cooking and of course dancing! I first tried latin dance almost two years ago and fell in love with it. I meet two other guys who where in the class with me and encouraged me to keep going! Now I am teacher in training and learn a whole new side of dance! Looking forward to meeting and dancing with you all.
Skyler Urriola
Skyler is very excited to be a part of Tapatia Collective’s team. She is from Panama, and moved to Nelson in 2018 and has been there ever since.
Skyler loves to socialize, bake, read, and watch movies, but most of all, She loves to dance! Skyler has been dancing with Fabiola for 2 years, and in this short time, she has learned so much.
Skyler was happy to find her community in Nelson and to be able to expand her knowledge in dancing.
Skyler has embarked on this journey as a teacher in training for beginner salsa and beginner bachata classes. She hopes that together, they can grow the Latin dance community and, most of all, have fun!
Yoshi McCarthy
Yoshi is a fun loving Australian who calls Nelson home. He enjoys all things outdoors and nature based, while also having a deep passion for Salsa and Bachata dance styles.
He has been practicing these style for 3 years under the expert instruction of Fabiola. He is very excited and grateful to be given the opportunity to be a teacher in training with Tapatía Collective.
Yoshi strives to continue learning and improving his dance ability while sharing his lead knowledge with the rapid growing Latin dance community of Nelson.
Jessica Trejis
Jessica Treijs is a born and raised Nelson local. Her love of dance began at age twelve, with jazz, contemporary and ballet training. At age 14, she was introduced to the Latin dance style, Salsa and fell in love with partner dancing.
As other styles of dance were easier to access within Nelson than Latin based styles, she lost touch with Salsa for years until taking it up again in New Zealand with casual classes and frequent dance socials.
When Fabiola began teaching in 2020, Jess attended as many classes as she could, among them Salsa and was again able to further her technique and love of the dance.
She is overjoyed to have become a teacher in training at Tapatía Collective and is excited to share her passion and play with students and to help further grow this dance community.
Nahum Juarez
Nahum, a passionate individual from Mexico but now calls the picturesque town of Nelson home. From his early years, he was captivated by the boundless potential of the human body and its ability to be molded through diverse training regimens. His quest for physical mastery led him to explore a myriad of disciplines, from dreaming of performing awe-inspiring acrobatics to the art of Capoeira.
Embracing Capoeira as his foundation, he dedicated himself to this Brazilian martial art, not only in Vancouver but also in Mexico, where he established an academy. Alongside his Capoeira journey, he delved into the world of acrobatics, honing his skills through rigorous training and street parkour. His thirst for knowledge brought him to Glacier Gymnastics in Nelson, where he continued to refine his craft among like-minded individuals.
Today, Nahum finds himself balancing the roles of a family man and a dedicated practitioner. With a deep-rooted desire to preserve his physical and mental agility, he continues to pursue his passion for movement.

Refund Policy: We understand that life can sometimes throw unexpected challenges our way. While all class and workshop fees are typically nonrefundable, exceptions may be considered in the case of special circumstances, subject to a $20 administration fee. Please note that there are no credits for missed sessions. In the rare event of class cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, such as inclement weather, power outages, or studio closures, refunds will not be issued. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
